Policy For Adults:
Practices that adults who interact with children in any way should be aware of:
- Our goal is to have clear, concrete rules that prevent problem situations, that enable children to function safely, and that still allow them to perceive the world as a fundamentally safe and nurturing place.
- Children and/or their parents are the ones who define boundaries regarding touch and relationships with other adults. If a child does not open his or her arms for a hug, adults should respect that child’s wishes.
- We encourage children to speak up if they are unsure or uncomfortable.
- As Christians, we take sacred baptismal vows to help protect and nurture children. It is everyone’s responsibility to help care for children. No matter our age or stage, all adults have an important role in Keeping Kids Safe.
