This month our focus will be on our mission partner, Bethlehem Ministry.
Pastor Leigh Jones introduced OBPC to Bethlehem Ministry approximately 10 years ago. Our first mission team traveled to Terrier-Rouge in 2017. A second team followed in 2018. A third team was set to travel in 2020, but plans were cancelled due to civil unrest and COVID.
Bethlehem Ministry works with Haitians to overcome poverty and improve their quality of life. Through educational, economic, environmental, and healthcare initiatives, we help build the capacity of Haitian communities to utilize their talents and resources for sustainable, positive change.
Each Sunday this month, one of the following programs will be featured in the bulletin.
Education
• Saint Barthélemy-Over 1,300 students from pre-k to grade 13 receive a quality education provided by the most well-trained teachers in Haiti.
Healthcare
• Clinique Espérance et Vie-Haitians receive family medical services, eye and dental care, and pharmacy and lab offerings at low or no cost.
Land & Livelihood
• Jatrofa Projenou-JP restores the land, improves farming, creates opportunities for better livelihoods, and ensures there is enough to eat.
• Espérance et Vie Humanitarian Aid-Haitians facing significant hardships receive emergency aid, including food delivery to those who need it most.
To wrap up our month-long campaign, we will host a Haitian luncheon on February 22, immediately following our worship service. Our guest speaker will be Rennae Henry, Executive Director of Bethlehem Ministry. Please plan to join us! Sign-up sheet is in the Narthex. Please sign up by Sunday February 15.
