Scripture for the day is Proverbs 14:20-21, 19:4
The poor are disliked even by their neighbors,
but the rich have many friends.
Those who despise their neighbors are sinners,
but happy are those who are kind to the poor.
Wealth brings many friends,
but the poor are left friendless.
After reading and reflecting on the passage, pray saying, Lord, since I was a child I have been inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan, who loved his needy neighbor. Yet I have no idea how to truly be a neighbor to the poor, rather than just a donor. Show me and my church how to do that wisely yet sacrificially. Amen.
