Scripture for the day is Proverbs 31:3-7
Do not give your strength to women,
your ways to those who destroy kings.
It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
it is not for kings to drink wine,
or for rulers to desire strong drink;
or else they will drink and forget what has been decreed,
and will pervert the rights of all the afflicted.
Give strong drink to one who is perishing,
and wine to those in bitter distress;
let them drink and forget their poverty,
and remember their misery no more.
After reading and reflecting on the passage, pray saying, Lord, I have come to see that doing right, telling the truth, going against the evil tide – can be so lonely. When I’m tempted to give in, help me to remember your loneliness. In order to save me, you bore rejection not only of enemies and of friends, but of your Father – and all for me. Amen.
