Scripture for the day is Proverbs 23:1-3
When you sit to dine with a ruler,
note well what is before you,
and put a knife to your throat
if you are given to gluttony.
Do not crave his delicacies,
for that food is deceptive.
After reading and reflecting on the passage, pray saying, Lord, manners and etiquette are considered a discredited marker of class privilege – yet they are more than that. They are love, thoughtfulness, and respect in the smallest and most common things in life. Help me to be kind enough to be courteous. Amen.
