Getting involved in the life of a church is a great way to get to know new people in the congregation while ministering to others and having fun! Listed below are activities you may be interested in joining:
Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM) – Every third Monday of the month members of OBPC volunteer at the North Street Halifax Urban Ministry Kitchen in Daytona Beach to feed Volusia County’s less fortunate and homeless people. Some members arrive around 8:30am to prepare nourishing meals and set up for the long lunch lines expected. A second shift of members arrive around 10am to help finish with preparation for lunch and then serve as many as 325 people in a day.
Classroom Volunteer for Osceola – We hope you will decide to volunteer some time at Osceola. Remember as a volunteer your schedule is quite flexible. We will have teacher needs lists that will allow you to find the class, grade, day of the week, and time that fits with your schedule. It does take time to receive your certification from the county (needed before you can participate). So pick up a form (available in the church office), fill it out, and return it. We will turn them into the school. You are guaranteed to receive more than you give for there is nothing like a child’s hug or a simple thank you! Chancel Choir– If you like to sing and would enjoy learning more about music, consider joining the chancel choir every Thursday at 7:15pm to 9pm. “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.” Psalm 40:3
Glory Bells – If you are interested in playing a musical instrument and learning more about music consider joining the Glory Bells every Thursday at 6pm to 7pm. “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth…” Psalm 98:4 “
